What is a Yoga Retreat?

A yoga retreat is an intentional pause from ordinary life—a dedicated time and space to immerse yourself in practice, rest, and self-inquiry. Retreats may take place over a full day, a weekend, or several days in nature, offering continuity that allows practices to build, themes to deepen, and insights to integrate.

Our retreats and weekend immersions are designed around the Roots & Wings framework: building the roots of nervous system regulation, physical alignment, and embodied presence, so you can extend your wings into the next chapter of life with clarity and confidence. Each retreat includes daily yoga practices (asana, breathwork, meditation), somatic education sessions, restorative practices, community connection, and unstructured time for rest and reflection.

These aren’t vacations where you bypass your life—they’re opportunities to come home to yourself so you can return to your life more resourced, grounded, and clear. Retreats welcome all levels of practitioners. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, or “good at yoga.” You just need to be ready to tend to yourself with care.

Why Retreat?

The Value of Stepping Away

In a culture that valorizes constant productivity, retreat is radical. It’s permission to rest, to feel, to move slowly, to listen to your body’s wisdom instead of pushing through.

Here's why people retreat:

Retreats create conditions for change that single classes or even regular practice can’t provide. The extended time allows your nervous system to downregulate, your body to release long-held tension, and your intuition to surface. Many participants describe retreats as “coming back to myself” or “remembering what matters.”

Who Should Come

Retreats Are For:

You don’t need prior yoga experience. You don’t need to be able to sit cross-legged or touch your toes. You need willingness to slow down, curiosity about your inner landscape, and trust that your body knows what it needs.

Some retreats are open to all genders; others are intentionally women-only spaces. Check individual retreat descriptions for specifics.

Retreat Locations & Accommodations

Where We Gather

Retreats take place in carefully selected locations that support rest and presence:

Accommodations range from shared rooms (budget-friendly, community-building) to private rooms (solitude and rest). All lodging is comfortable, clean, and conducive to relaxation. Specific venue and lodging details are provided with each retreat offering.

Investment & Registration

Retreat pricing varies based on length, location, and accommodations. Early registration discounts may be available. Payment plans or limited scholarship options may be offered for select retreats.

A non-refundable deposit is typically required to reserve your space, with the remaining balance due prior to the retreat start date. Cancellation policies vary by retreat and are outlined in individual retreat details.

Group sizes are intentionally small, generally between 12 and 20 participants, to maintain intimacy and personalized attention. Retreats often fill in advance.

Preparing for Your Retreat

Before You Arrive

Once registered, you’ll receive a detailed welcome packet including:

No special equipment needed. Yoga mats, props, and blankets are typically provided. Bring any personal comfort items (favorite pillow, essential oils, etc.) that help you feel at home.

Most importantly, come with an open heart and a willingness to receive. Leave the to-do list behind. Your only job on retreat is to be present to yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What If I'm New to Yoga?

Retreats welcome beginners, but some prior practice is recommended since retreats are immersive experiences. Practices are accessible for all bodies and experience levels, with modifications offered throughout. Many people find retreats an ideal way to begin deepening a yoga practice because you’re learning in a supportive, extended container rather than figuring things out in a fast-paced drop-in class.

Yes. Many participants come solo. Shared meals, optional sharing circles, and group practices naturally create connection. You’ll have solo time for rest and reflection, as well as opportunities for community. Coming alone often allows deeper self-focus without the distraction of managing travel companions.

Retreat meals accommodate common dietary needs: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free. Note any allergies or restrictions on your registration form. Meals are typically simple, nourishing, and designed to support your practice—think whole foods, seasonal ingredients, and gentle on digestion.

While we encourage full participation to receive the benefit of the retreat arc, you’re always welcome to rest if your body needs it. This is your retreat. Trust your signals. If a nap serves you more than an afternoon session, take the nap. Retreat is about honoring what you need, not forcing yourself through a schedule.

Some longer retreats or teacher-specific immersions may offer Yoga Alliance continuing education credits. Check individual retreat descriptions. Even if CEU credits aren’t offered, many yoga teachers attend retreats for personal practice renewal, which often translates to better teaching.

Cancellation policies vary by retreat. Generally, deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations 60+ days before retreat may receive a partial refund minus the deposit. Cancellations within 30 days typically result in forfeiture of the full payment unless your spot can be filled from the waitlist. We strongly recommend travel insurance for destination retreats.
