If you’re carrying tension that won’t release, pain that keeps returning, or a body that feels stuck in old patterns—Rolfing® Structural Integration offers a different approach. This isn’t about temporary relief. It’s about reorganizing your body’s foundational support system so you can move, breathe, and inhabit your life with greater ease.
Alison Litchfield is a Certified Rolfer® serving Boulder and the Denver metro area.
Rolfing is a powerful commitment to your body, but you don’t have to commit to everything at once. I want you to feel confident that this approach is right for you.
Experience the work and feel the difference in your body with just one appointment.
Commit to just sessions 1–3 of the traditional Ten Series. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, you can stop there with no further obligation.
This work is about your agency and what feels right for your body.
The Rolfing® 10-Series is a systematic, whole-body approach to structural integration that, over time, brings your body into greater alignment with gravity.
Rather than treating isolated symptoms, the series works progressively through the body’s fascial network, addressing patterns of tension, compensation, and imbalance that have developed over years or decades. Each session builds on the one before it, allowing changes to integrate gradually and sustainably.
The goal is not perfection, but greater ease, adaptability, and support for daily life.
You do not need to commit to all ten sessions upfront.
Many clients choose to begin with:
This phased approach honors your body’s timing and supports informed choice.
For many people, the 10-Series marks a beginning rather than an endpoint.
After completing the series, clients often continue with:
Post-series work helps maintain alignment, deepen body awareness, and support ongoing nervous system regulation.
An Integrative Bodywork Session is designed to help clients translate meaningful insights from psychedelic experiences or transformative experiences into lasting change through the wisdom of the body.
While psychedelic journeys can offer profound shifts in awareness, many people find it challenging to fully integrate those experiences into daily life. Emotions, memories, nervous system responses, and physical holding patterns often continue to live in the body long after the journey has ended.
This session provides a safe, trauma-informed space to slow down, listen, and support the integration process through embodied practices.
Each session is tailored to the individual and may combine hands-on bodywork with guided movement, breath awareness, and nervous system education.
This work serves as a body-centered complement to therapeutic and psychedelic healing by helping clients integrate insight through awareness, movement, breath, and embodied experience.
Structural work and yoga share a deep lineage. Dr. Ida Rolf’s understanding of the body was significantly informed by her own yoga practice, and the two modalities complement each other beautifully.
Alison’s Experience: Before becoming a Rolfer, Alison was a dedicated yoga practitioner. She found that the 10 sessions of Rolfing gave her a sense of release and freedom that might have taken 10 years to achieve through yoga alone.
Today, she brings that same potential for acceleration to her clients. Alisons apprach is to meet the individual where they are. She uses her background to help yogis and movers integrate the structural changes of Rolfing into their daily practice for lasting transformation.
Rolfing can support your body and nervous system in multiple ways:
Many clients describe feeling taller, lighter, and more “at home” in their bodies after completing the Rolfing 10-Series.
Come wearing comfortable clothing you can move in—athletic wear or undergarments work well, as Rolfing involves visual assessment and hands-on work. Your practitioner needs to see and access areas being addressed, so loose clothing that allows movement is ideal.
Before your first session, you’ll discuss your goals, health history, and any areas of pain or restriction. This is collaborative work—your input and feedback throughout the process are essential.
A typical Rolfing session lasts 75 minutes. Your Rolfer will assess your posture, movement patterns, and tissue quality through visual observation and hands-on palpation. You’ll spend time on a massage table while your practitioner uses specific techniques to release restrictions in your fascia.
Remember, you are always in control—let your practitioner know if you need to adjust pressure or positioning.
Many people feel more mobile, relaxed, and spacious in their bodies immediately after a session. Some experience mild soreness for a day or two as the body adapts to new alignment—similar to exercise soreness. This is normal and part of the integration process.
Sessions are typically spaced 1-2 weeks apart to give your body time to reorganize around the changes.
Rolfing is particularly valuable for midlife women experiencing stress held in the body, dysregulation from hormonal shifts, or the cumulative effects of decades spent in caretaking or high-demand roles. Restoring structural alignment can support nervous system regulation and create a steadier foundation for the second half of life.
If you have certain medical conditions (recent surgery, acute inflammation, cancer, clotting disorders), consult with your healthcare provider before beginning Rolfing.
Alison brings 28 years of experience in bodywork and movement therapy to her practice. As a Certified Rolfing® Structural Integration practitioner, her work is a unique synthesis of:

Rolfing and massage are both hands-on bodywork, but they differ significantly in approach and goals. While massage focuses on relaxing muscles and relieving tension, Rolfing addresses your deeper fascial system to restore structural alignment and movement patterns. Rolfing typically involves a comprehensive 10-Series program designed to systematically reorganize your body’s connective tissue. Massage offers temporary relaxation; Rolfing creates lasting structural change.
Rolfing works with fascia (your body’s connective tissue) using hands-on manipulation to release tension and improve organization. Rather than “breaking up” fascia, Rolfing practitioners use specific techniques to rehydrate and reorganize fascial tissue, allowing your body to move more freely and efficiently. This process happens gradually over the course of the 10-Series, creating sustainable changes in how your body functions.
While Rolfing and myofascial release are related, they’re not identical. Both address fascia, but Rolfing is more comprehensive and holistic—it works with your entire structural system to create lasting changes in alignment and movement. Myofascial release is typically a single technique to release fascial restrictions. Rolfing practitioners use a systematic 10-Series protocol specifically designed to reorganize your whole body in relationship to gravity.
While the traditional “10-Series” is the gold standard for a complete structural overhaul, you are welcome to start with a single session or try the first three sessions to see how your body responds. Many clients find significant relief and value in just a few visits.
